The Producer, a farmer or rancher selects an animal(s) from their herd. This may be a non-calf producing heifer, injured animal, a retiring cow or bull. The Producer contacts us about the donation of the animal and if the animal meets our strict health and condition criteria, the process moves to Step 2.

We coordinate the pick up and delivery of the cull animal for transport to our federally inspected processing facility. When ready, the animal is processed into protein and the Partnership pays the bill.

Once the protein is processed, we contact the Montana Food Bank Network for delivery. The producer who donated the animal then receives a tax contribution letter to claim their tax credit based on the amount of protein processed.
